The Analytics tab turns your dictation history into a picture: how fast you speak, how consistently you dictate, and where your words end up. Open it from the sidebar, or click any of the stats at the top of Home.
Words Per Minute
- The headline number is your average over the last 30 days, computed from real recorded audio time — not typing time.
- A trend line shows how you compare to your all-time average, with a sparkline of your recent daily speeds.
Streaks and the Activity Heatmap
- The heatmap shows roughly a year of daily activity — darker squares mean more words dictated that day. Hover any square for the exact count.
- Your current streak counts consecutive days with at least one dictation. A day with no dictation yet doesn't break it until it's fully over.
- Your longest streak is tracked across your whole history.
When you first open Analytics, Tota rebuilds daily history from your transcription archives, so the heatmap reaches back to your first dictation — not just recent weeks.
Apps You Dictate Into
Each dictation records which app it was pasted into, giving you a per-app breakdown of where you talk the most. Counting starts from v3.5 — earlier dictations didn't store the target app, so the list fills in as you go.
All-Time Milestones
- Total words, recorded time, and dictation count.
- Progress toward writing a book (~80,000 words) and pages written (~350 words a page).
- Estimated time saved compared to typing at 40 WPM.
- A naughty word counter — a lighthearted tally of strong language in your dictations, matched against a small built-in list. Whole words only, so innocent words never count.
Privacy
Everything in Analytics is computed on your Mac from data Tota already stores locally. Nothing is uploaded, and the naughty-word check never leaves your machine.
